After witnessing the movement to link Trump, who suffered an ear injury after the attack, to Vincent van Gogh, Mitobe focused on the intersection of his personal resonance with van Gogh, which was his starting point, and former President Trump as a symbol of the social issues facing countries around the world. The realities and symbolism of these issues are reflected in the media and the media’s ability to communicate them. What kind of light is irradiating these realities and symbols through media and communication, creating and dissociating them at the same time?

While Newton elucidated color from the spectrum of light, Goethe defined both light and darkness as the elements that produce color, and taught that “color exists at the boundary between light and darkness. We invite you to view this new series, which was born from his confrontation and creative struggle with his internal circumstances and social situation as an artist.

Text: Kutsuko Suzuki

Outline of the exhibition
Title: Trump’s ears are like Van Gogh’s (I also.)
Artist Name: Nanae Mitobe
Dates: 2024.10.4 fri. – 2024.10.27 sun.
Open:13:00-19:00 Thu-Sun Closed on Mon, Tue, and Wed
Venue: HARUKAITO by ISLAND
Address: BLOCK HOUSE 2F, 6-12-9 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo
Organizer: ISLAND Japan Co.

Concurrent Events
Title：Alphabet
Artist Name : Nanae Mitobe
Dates: 2024.10.4 Fri. – 2024.10.27 sun.
Open:13:00-19:00 Thu-Sun Closed on Mon, Tue,and Wed
Venue: BLOCK HOUSE 4F (6-12-9 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo)
Organizer: ATAMI ART LINK DAO LLC
For more information, please see this release.
https://prtimes.jp/main/html/rd/p/000000002.000149231.html

2024.10.4 fri. – 2024.10.27 sun.
